What we translate

The documents people most often need translated

Notarial certificates (公证书)

Mainland documents usually arrive as a notarised booklet: the notarial certificate wrapped around the underlying record. We translate the whole booklet — the notary’s certificate, the document itself, and every stamp on both. Already have English pages from the notary office, or an apostille? Chinese notarial certificates, translation and apostilles explains what each one does.

Household register (户口簿)

The hukou is a multi-page booklet with an entry per family member. You choose which pages you need translated, and each translated page is priced as one page — the running total is on screen as you choose.

Degrees and transcripts

Chinese graduates hold two separate documents — the graduation certificate and the degree certificate — and many assessments want both, plus the transcript. Each is its own document on the order page.

Pricing

The full price on screen before you order

Translation is $39.99 per page, into English, delivered digitally. Add NAATI certification for $59.99 per page when the receiving authority asks for it: a NAATI-certified translator prepares your document, and it carries their certification statement, NAATI stamp and credential number. Where the translator uses NAATI’s digital stamp, it carries a QR code you can scan to check the credential. Read about NAATI translation in Australia.

Photograph and upload

Photograph your document with your phone, choose your options with the running total on screen, and pay online. Nothing is printed or posted.

Delivered by email

Your finished translation arrives by email. Normal delivery is within 3 days and included in the price; Urgent and ASAP are on the order page, ASAP where a translator for your language is available. We do not deliver on Sundays: a delivery that would fall on a Sunday arrives on the Monday. The windows are estimates, so if you have a fixed deadline, tell us before you order.

Complimentary re-issue

If your translation ever needs a correction or a fresh copy, we re-issue it with our compliments. Your order number finds it, even years later.

The craft

Details a careful translation gets right

These are the points where Chinese documents differ from English ones, and where a careless translation causes questions later. Our house standard sets out how each of them is handled.

Names follow your passport

A Chinese name has one pinyin form but passports sometimes carry older or regional spellings. We match the spelling in your passport, so your documents agree with each other.

Taiwan dates converted

Documents from Taiwan are dated in the Republic of China calendar — year 114 is 2025. We convert every date to the Western calendar and keep the original alongside it.

Seals translated in full

The red seals on Chinese documents name the issuing authority, and that name matters to the reader. Where a seal carries words, we translate them rather than just writing “[seal]”. A seal with no words, or one that cannot be read in the photo, is marked in square brackets.
