NAATI translations don’t expire
Translate once, keep the PDF and use it again: the visa now, and citizenship, a passport or marriage paperwork later. NAATI’s page on practitioner identification says a translation from one of its credentialed translators “remains valid indefinitely”.
This applies to our NAATI option, available on the order page. A renewed or reissued document needs a new translation, and each office sets its own requirements; tell us who it is for and we’ll check what they ask for. Do NAATI translations expire?

Why certification matters
When an authority names a NAATI-certified translator
Several Australian authorities name NAATI-certified translators in their own instructions — these are the moments it matters most.
Transferring an overseas licence
Each state sets its own rule. Several accept a translation from an independent NAATI-certified translator; New South Wales does not. Check your state before you order — what each state asks for.
Driving or renting on an overseas licence
A licence that is not in English travels with either an English translation or an International Driving Permit. Some road authorities and rental companies name NAATI-certified translators for that translation — car hire rules by state and company.
Visas and citizenship
The Department of Home Affairs states that translators in Australia must be accredited by NAATI, and asks for the original document alongside the translation.

Requirements differ between states and between the authorities receiving your document. New South Wales is the clearest example. For a NSW licence transfer, Transport for NSW accepts translations only from Multicultural NSW, the Department of Home Affairs or a listed consulate — not from private translators, us included. If an authority has given you instructions about certification or formatting, send them through our contact form with your order number before work begins. Yes. Choose NAATI certified at the certification step, and a NAATI-certified translator prepares your document and applies their digital stamp. The stamp carries a QR code anyone can scan to verify the certification. Our guide, what a certified translation looks like, page by page, shows each part. Where an Australian authority names a NAATI-certified translator, that is the option to take. The Department of Home Affairs says translators in Australia must be accredited by NAATI, and several state road authorities and rental companies name NAATI-certified translators too. For a NSW licence transfer, Transport for NSW does not take an independent translator’s work at all.
You choose one of three speeds when you order, and each has an estimated delivery time rather than a guaranteed one. Normal is within 3 days, Urgent 12–24 hours, and ASAP within 4 hours where a translator for your language is available, so your translation can arrive the same day. We do not deliver on Sundays: a delivery that would fall on a Sunday arrives on the Monday. Urgent and ASAP are priced on the order page.
