Mongolian to English
Mongolian to English translation
For students, workers and visitors from Mongolia who need a certificate, licence or diploma in English. Translated in full, delivered by email, with NAATI certification as an option.
What a Mongolian document needs
Three things a Mongolian document brings with it
Mongolian names put the father first, identity numbers mix letters and digits, and two scripts can share a page.
The father’s name comes first
A Mongolian name puts the father’s name, in a possessive form, before the given name, and many records also carry a clan name. A passport often files the father’s name as a surname. The translation labels each part and follows your passport’s spelling, so the reader knows which name is yours.
The registration number
A Mongolian registration number is two Cyrillic letters followed by eight digits that begin with the date of birth. The letters are transliterated one consistent way, the digits copied exactly, so the number can be matched on every document.
Cyrillic, and the traditional script
Official Mongolian is written in Cyrillic, but some seals and headings use the traditional vertical script. Where they carry words, those are translated too; a seal with no legible wording is marked in square brackets.
Driving here on a Mongolian licence
What to carry with a Mongolian licence
What VicRoads says
“If your licence is not in English, you’ll also need to carry either: an English translation of your licence, or an international driving permit in English.” Either one goes with the card; neither replaces it.

At the Budget desk
A licence not in English “must be accompanied by an approved translation such as an International Driving Permit”. Budget adds that a permit “is not a stand-alone document”, and a translation is used the same way.
