What a Danish document needs

Three things a Danish document brings with it

Denmark can often give you English itself, and Danish names follow a law of their own.

Ask for Danish/English first

Denmark’s civil registration service lists its certificates, including the Certificate of Personal Data, as available in Danish and in Danish/English. If one of those covers what your reader needs, order it and you may need no translation from us.

The CPR number

The CPR number, ten digits beginning with your date of birth written day, month, year, appears on most Danish records. It is copied exactly as printed, so a reader can match the certificate, the licence and your other papers.

Middle names and æ, ø, å

A Danish mellemnavn is a family-type name placed before the surname, not a second given name, and the translation labels it so. Names keep æ, ø and å exactly as your passport prints them.

Driving here on a Danish licence

What to carry with a Danish licence

What Queensland says

“If your licence isn’t in English, you should carry a recognised English translation of it when you’re driving. Show this translation to police when you have to show your driver licence.”

At the Hertz desk

Hertz’s terms accept a licence that “is in English or, if not in English, is accompanied by a certified English translation”. A Danish card needs the translation, carried with the card itself.
