What a Croatian document needs

Three things a Croatian document brings with it

Croatian records now arrive on paper or as electronic records, and each carries details an Australian reader will not recognise.

Domovnica, rodni list, izvadak

Through e-Građani you can ask for a domovnica (proof of Croatian citizenship), a rodni list (birth certificate) or an extract from the birth register as an electronic record, sent by email. We translate the record you send, paper or electronic, with every field and the issuing office.

The international extract

Croatian registries can also issue an international extract on the multilingual form of the 1976 Vienna Convention, with its labels in several languages. If yours already reads in English where it matters, see documents already in English before you order.

Č, Ć, Đ and the OIB

Croatian names use č, ć, đ, š and ž, and đ is sometimes written dj. The translation copies your name as your passport prints it, and the 11-digit OIB, your personal identification number, is copied digit for digit. If an older document spells your name without the diacritics, the translation shows that spelling too, so the two can be matched.

Driving here on a Croatian licence

What to carry with a Croatian licence

What New South Wales says

“If your licence is not written in English, you must also carry an English translation, or an International Driving Permit.” A Croatian card is not in English, so choose one or the other, and carry the card itself too.

At the SIXT desk

“Should the valid driver’s licence be in another language or have no photo SIXT will accept a certified translation in English or an International driver’s permit.” SIXT’s rental terms name a NAATI-certified translation as the accepted form.

Every state’s rule, word for word, is on driver licence translation, and pulled over on an overseas licence says what each state asks you to show.

What a careful job includes

Every field, every record, both sides

The whole vozačka dozvola

Both sides of the card: your details in the numbered fields, the issuing police administration, and each category on the reverse with its dates and codes, set out in English words.

Records in either form

A paper certificate or an electronic record from e-Građani is translated the same way, with its reference number and the details of the office or system that issued it.

Civil and court records

Domovnica, birth, marriage and death certificates, criminal record certificates, court decisions, diplomas and transcripts. Seals and signatures are marked where they appear; unreadable text is marked in square brackets.

Choose the NAATI certification option for a translation prepared by a NAATI-certified translator, carrying their certification statement, NAATI stamp and credential number. See the birth certificate and marriage certificate pages for those documents.
