Nepali to English
Nepali to English translation
For students, partners and families who need a Nepali citizenship certificate, ward document or civil record in English, for a visa or an office in Australia. Translated in full, delivered by email, with NAATI certification as an option.
What a Nepali document needs
Three things a Nepali document brings with it
Nepali documents are written in Devanagari and dated in Nepal’s own calendar, and many of the ones a visa file needs come from a ward office.
Bikram Sambat dates
Nepal’s Bikram Sambat calendar runs about 56 to 57 years ahead of the Western one, and its new year falls in mid-April, so one BS year spans two Western years. The translation converts each specific day and keeps the original date in square brackets. Dates and calendars on a translation shows the sums.
Ward office certificates
A ward office issues many of the papers a family visa file leans on, including the relationship certificate (नाता प्रमाणित). Some municipalities issue it in Nepali and in English. Check which version you hold: if yours is already in English, you may not need a translation at all.

Devanagari names and numerals
Names are romanised to match your passport, and Devanagari numerals (०१२३) are written as Western digits, so a citizenship certificate number or a date reads the same in both versions. The original figures stay beside any date that was converted. Spelled differently on two of your papers? See which spelling of your name goes on the translation.
For a visa or an Australian office
Who may translate, in Home Affairs’ words
Translated in Australia
“All documents not in English must be translated into English. Translators in Australia must be accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters.” For a translation made here, choose the NAATI certification option.

Translated in Nepal
The partner visa checklist says translators outside Australia “do not have to be accredited”, but each translation must include their “full name; address and telephone number; qualifications and experience in the language they are translating”, and “These details must be in English.” A translation made in Nepal that shows all of that may already do, so ask before you pay twice.

What a careful job includes
Every page, every stamp
The citizenship certificate
Both sides in full: the certificate number, name, parents’ and spouse’s names where printed, place and date of birth, address, the issuing district office, and each stamp, signature and later endorsement.
Ward and registration records
Birth, marriage and migration registration certificates, relationship and address certificates, and income or occupation letters from a ward office. The ward stamp and signature are marked where they appear.
Nothing summarised
Every line and every stamp is translated in the document’s own order. Handwriting that cannot be read is marked [illegible] rather than guessed, and a seal with no words is marked in square brackets.
Choose the NAATI certification option for a translation prepared by a NAATI-certified translator, carrying their certification statement, NAATI stamp and credential number. See the birth certificate and marriage certificate pages for those documents.
Pricing
