Persian (Farsi) to English
Persian (Farsi) to English translation
For drivers on an Iranian licence, and for anyone who needs a shenasnameh, a marriage certificate or another Persian-language record in English. Translated in full, delivered by email, with NAATI certification as an option.
What a Persian document needs
Three things a Persian document brings with it
Persian runs right to left, has its own numerals and dates by its own calendar. Each is carried across with care.
Solar Hijri dates
Iranian documents use the Solar Hijri calendar, whose year begins at the March equinox, around 21 March, so one Persian year spans two Western ones. The translation converts each specific day and keeps the original in square brackets. Dates and calendars on a translation shows the sums.
A booklet that records a life
The shenasnameh (identity booklet) is added to over a lifetime: marriages and divorces, children, and finally a death are entered on its later pages. We translate every page you send, the later entries included, so the reader sees the record as it now stands.
Persian numerals and names
Persian numerals are written as Western digits, and names are romanised to match your passport, Mohammad or Mohammed, whichever yours says. A document from Afghanistan in Dari? Choose Dari on the order page.
Driving or delivering on an Iranian licence
Where an Iranian licence needs a translation
Uber Eats names Iran
Uber Eats’ getting-started page says: “For non-English licences issued in China, Japan, Iran, or Egypt, please upload your licence with International Driving Permit (IDP) or NAATI-certified translation”. Car delivery on an overseas licence has other conditions too: Uber, DiDi and Uber Eats on an overseas licence.

Converting to an Australian licence
VicRoads: “If your driver licence or learner permit is not in English, you must have it translated by any NAATI accredited translator or the country’s consulate in Australia.” Queensland and the other states word it differently; see Victoria and Queensland.

What a careful job includes
Every page, every stamp, both sides
The whole licence
Both sides of the card: name, father’s name where printed, date of birth, ID and licence numbers, the licence class, issue and expiry dates, and every stamp or code.
Marriage and divorce records
Marriage and divorce certificates are translated in full, including the dower (mahriyeh) and any conditions written into the contract, the registry office’s details and every stamp.
Civil and academic records
Birth and death records, police certificates, degrees and transcripts. Seals and signatures are marked where they appear; unreadable text is marked in square brackets.
Choose the NAATI certification option for a translation prepared by a NAATI-certified translator, carrying their certification statement, NAATI stamp and credential number. See the birth certificate and marriage certificate pages for those documents.
